Things to add to DSL...Forum: DSL Ideas and Suggestions Topic: Things to add to DSL... started by: pctweeker Posted by pctweeker on April 05 2006,20:20
I love using DSL, I use it everyday, everywhere... It's even on my Xbox! But there are somethings that I think should be in DSL without expecting too much... Just my opinion...1. A BitTorrent Client 2. We should all start collecting drivers to go with WiFi cards for ndiswrapper to go with DSL. Then add a little auto config script to work with ndiswrapper and netcardconfig. Wireless compatability is one things a million ppl complain about with Linux... 3. Permanent Home Directory. Like the full blown Knoppix distro, so we can just throw program files in a usb drive and save settings also. Like startup stuff. 4. Ability to make a swap file or storage for DSL on windows partition maybe? 5. Refined/more detail user guide with the cd so ppl don't have to hop from one computer to the next to figure things out. Well I had a bunch of ideas in my head but I'll bring them up later. If i weren't such a Linux newb I'd find a way to help, but I'm proficiant in everything but Linux and programming haha Let me know if i can help! Posted by roberts on April 05 2006,22:00
1. Bit torrent: Suggest a tiny one.2. Don't think we can/should try to distribute Window's Drivers. But a discussion of working ones in the forum would be good. 3. We already have a persistent home and/or opt. Use boot option of home=hda3 and it will be automatically setup. Same for opt, if so desired. Personally I only use the home option. 4, Swap file option is on the system menu. 5. A user's guide would be very nice. I think that was the planned purpose of the Wiki. It is difficult to keep up to date, as DSL has gone through so many changes. Posted by bufalo on April 11 2006,23:49
