I think I have already read it somewhere, but not when and how this will be made.

Currently, I can only differ the different versions in an easy way by different backgrounds (e.g. background of DSL 2.3 RC1 and background of DSL 2.3 final).

I would appreciate it very much, if the DSL version number can be written somewhere to the main screen or to screen during boot.

Thank you

Seconded.

Something simple & small. Maybe just on the boot screen. Or on the dillo help screen. Knoppix rather over does it with a huge splash on the wallpaper, but at least there's no doubt what version you're running.

Several times I've left the CD in the drive, or pulled the USB key & forgotten, & am then left wondering exactly which version I'm playing with.

DSLpanel -> System Stats
Right there at the top of the screen.

Ah, thanks! So I know there is a solution for this :)

Nevertheless, I still would also appreciate it, if it would be displayed somewhere at the boot-screen or at the wallpaper, like it is done in Knoppix.

Seems like you would want to know before you put the media on the computer. The only solution to that is to label the pendrive or CD.

Sharpie's are wonderful tools.
