Is there some way to get DSL to remember my boot-time options?
If not, I'd like to see this added at some time.
I find it tedious to keep repeating 'dsl toram, nousb, mydsl=hda1, etc'
whenever I boot up.  There's lots of room left on my CDRW.

There are different ways. One way is to write them in the boot command line of your lilo or grub boot loader. The other way is to put them in when you install, say to USB pendrive, when you are prompted to do so during the installation process. In a CDRW you probably would want to do a mydsl remaster to start off with and include the boot commands that you have to repeat the most.

If using USB or livecd, you will need to edit the appropriate bootloader config textfile and add them to the APPEND line for the "default" boot.

SYSLINUX.CFG
ISOLINUX.CFG

cbagger01 & doobit...

Thanks for the suggestions.

The mkmydsl route works, but I could never imagine all the pitfalls
one might encounter along this route.
I think DSL should offer mkmydsl to Parker Bros as a parlor game.
I found this like a scavenger hunt, running down all the assumed but necessary details.

I had in mind some simpler route like modding some /etc file and doing a backup.  I had previously been spoiled by the 'just works' nature of this little marvel.

I know the grub route would work, but I already have a triple boot
arrangement.  I hope, rather, to eventually have all my DSL goodies --configuration stuff, utilities and apps-- all on one live CD-RW, and have a scheme whereby I can upgrade it easily.

Best Regards

I notice that Kanotix has a lot of boot-time options built in to his bootup screen, and to get to the English version, I have to tab down at boot time to get that one. I wondered how that would be done.
When I run my remaster, I always do "tohd=/dev/hdd7" to begin with, then from then on, "fromhd=/dev/hdd7 myconfig=scan" to get it running off a 7200 rpm hard drive. Much faster than running off the cdrom drive.
