Why only 2.9m for root when all things are installed on that side? I was updating some things from sarge repos and ran out of room. My fix was to move the /etc folder(the biggest) to /home/dsl/ and make a link from  /  to  /home/dsl/etc. Maybe on the next release you could make the root side bigger say 5m or 10m.

That would pretty much kill the useability of DSL for anyone with a small amount of ram.  Perhaps including /etc in the mkwriteable script might be a better compromise, or maybe there's a better idea that no one has thought of yet?

I second the idea of including /etc into the mkwritable script.

although /etc is ALREADY "writable", there is not much free space available in the root ramdisk.

In fact, there have been some posts here in the past where people manually created a "/ramdisk/etc" and then copied the files and directories and then symlinked it back to /etc so it does work.

Okay that worked, I moved the /etc file out of home/dsl and put it in /ramdisk/etc.I should have realized it's the same thing :p  as putting it in home. I think it should be here(/ramdisk/) in the first place.
