I've been reading websites about copying Windows fonts over to *nux.  Could someone figure it out for DSL and post it here...

Regards,

I've read that you can copy TTF fonts over
then "chmod 644 *"
then mkfntdir

...but I've also seen different instructions.

Just learning so far, I've lost count of the number of re-installs I've done. I don't want to break things _again_!

(I spent enough on some special fonts, I'd like to be able to use them!)

BTW, I'm running DSL 2.6.

try asking on the dsl-n forum then-> < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-n/f/ >

I haven't played with dsl-n so i don't really know the inner workings, but if it uses xfree or xorg than the font's will work. You should be able to just go to /usr/share/fonts and put your fonts in one of the folders(dir) already there or like you said make a new one. i use to just put my font's into a already made directory that was already in use so they would show up in the selection, but i haven't messed with font's in a long time so i don't really know the current state of things. good luck
