Several vulnerabilities have been found in older versions of the flash player. There is a patched version of 7.0 available.

I'm not sure what version is now autoloaded with DSL's "install flash" menu option, but I figured an update might be in order.

The best solution so far regardless of which Flash version you choose to run:

Even if you want to run Flash a lot, you should discriminate and not allow every site you hit to start Flash and load ads and whatever else can be transmitted to your computer via Flash from other servers. With extensions like flashblock (noscript can also block Flash), you get to control what Flash content runs when you browse.
