Allow PXE deploy directly to HD.Currently, i am able to boot dsl via network boot, but i can not install it into the HD. I am testing that in vmware. I hope the developer can add that option. I plan to deploy a lab of computer with dsl. I kind of like the way that developer made dsl. Small + Fast(Efficient) + UP2DATE(GOOD Softwares Supported) + FREE Posted by roberts on Dec. 20 2007,00:38
I am still puzzled by this request.DSL offers a PXE server via live CDROM. DSL offers a PXE server from hard drive via frugal. What would trying to perform a traditional hard drive install from an initrd (PXE) edition provide? Use the other editions to perform such. If you want a tradtional hard drive installation then it wouldn't be an entire DSL image embedded in the initial ramdisk. Posted by bbmak on Dec. 20 2007,08:28
For me, it is impossible for me to install each computer manually. So i hope there is an efficient way to deploy dsl linux to client computers. Unattended Network Installation will be the best Posted by roberts on Dec. 20 2007,16:21
Perhaps the pxedsl.tar.gz is the missing piece. The initrd edition of DSL is PXE ready. All that is needed is to grab the pxedsl.tar.gz mydsl extension. It is in the testing area. It is very easy to then have a PXE server. See the .info file for the extension. It is very easy to setup and use. Then any client that can boot from network will boot up DSL from the single DSL PXE server (initrd version + pxe extension). |
