Citrix ICA client 8 and libXaw.so.6Forum: DSL Ideas and Suggestions Topic: Citrix ICA client 8 and libXaw.so.6 started by: JoeDeller Posted by JoeDeller on Nov. 18 2004,11:22
I'm trying to run the Citrix ICA client v8, but it is looking for the earlier libXaw.so,6, I was hoping to create a symlink somewhere writeable and using LD_LIBRARY_PATH (bad I know), but this doesn't appear to work.I've seen a couple of posts on the ICA client and was able to fix the installer, but am now stuck :-( Does anyone have this working ? Thanks, - Joe - Posted by ico2 on Nov. 18 2004,20:56
find libxaw6 on packages.debian.org

Thanks, now have it working, but had to do a HDD install, for some reason the ICA client wouldn't work until the file was dropped into /lib. Odd, but sorted.Would be great if DSL still had the old lib by default. Ta, - Joe - Posted by williahow on Nov. 19 2004,19:19
I use the following procedure to run Citrix ICA Client from RAM, no HDInstall required1. Get the libxaw6 package from < http://security.debian.org/debian-....386.deb > 2. Store it somewhere, e.g. /mnt/sda1/optional in the script below 3. Then on, from boot run: mydsl-load /mnt/sda1/optional/dsl-dpkg.dsl mydsl-load /mnt/sda1/optional/libxaw6_4.1.0-16woody4_i386.deb 4.Run ICA client In my case /opt/ICAClient/wfcmgr Posted by Max on Nov. 20 2004,18:32
Were you able to run the default ICA client installer with no modifications?? I had some problems and had to end up modifying the script to get it to install.

I didn't need any modifications to the default installer, but it does need cpio to copy its files out of the archive, so you need to install this firstThe following sequence should work: mydsl-load /mnt/sda1/optional/dsl-dpkg.dsl sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install cpio gunzip < linuxx86.tar.gz | tar -xvf - sudo ./setupwfc I chose to install to /opt but the default (/usr/lib) works OK as well (although it isn't part of the standard PATH). Once ICAClient is installed cpio is no longer required for client operation Posted by ico2 on Nov. 20 2004,23:38
another success story

Please, if you have successfully installed the Citrix 9.x Linux ICA client to a recent/current version of DSL, post your how-to here. The earlier lib.ax.so.etc.etc. problem does not happen with the 9.x ICA client. Thank you, Tom |
