No doubt this has been done.However, as a noob, I've put ethereal on my laptop running DSL 0.8.3 on hard drive and am considering other apps/tools/utils to use in the network support arena. I'm sick and tired of Winblows and think this old IBM 600E can be a great tool for diagnosing/sniffing, etc.
Post your suggestions, but remember I'm a noob, so MyDSL and Synaptic apps/installs would be the way to go. <now if only i could get the hang of making icons on the desktop for eithereal, etc.>

dsl should be able to do most of what you need

I'm thinking you may be right. I put ethereal on it via Synaptic. What else would you suggest I install on my DSL box via Synaptic or myDSL
