I'm doing some brush-up research on PDA forensics for a class I'm teaching and I (again) start daydreaming about hacking an IPAQ with linux. so I'm over at handhelds.org and I start running through the how-to and low and behold I find an instalation method from CF...would it be possible-with modifications to run DSL on a handheld? To be sure the hacking of this is beyond my knowledge,,,but could it be done? Anyone willing to try? Posted by cbagger01 on Jan. 19 2005,17:43
Most target handhelds run either Dragonball CPU or ARM CPU.DSL is compiled for x86 CPU. It is possible to create a Debian ARM distro and then modify it so that it contains most of the software packages that come with DSL but it would not be a 5 minute task. A better option would be to take a distro like Familiar and then strip out the parts that you don't want or need and then add the parts that are missing. |
