I was wondering why MP is included with DSL when we could use Nedit. Nedit is small and powerful. I think it works better it also has more features. It dosn't need any compiling because they have a linux binary that works right out of the box. So why not throw away MP and subsititute Nedit?

Umm, DSL doesn't have MP anymore.

We have Beaver, which is much nicer than Nedit, although not nearly as nice as Scite.

Get the latest version! 0.9.2! ^_^

Nedit is actually bigger than all of the others.

There isn't enough room on the liveCD for it.

You can install it yourself, if you like:

Well I will upgrade I think I'm using 9.0 or something. I have installed it. Well oh well guess i'll do w/o.

hm beaver is quite nice, but it doesn't show any "umlaute" like äöü ...

is there a way to change this ?!?

I don't like beaver becuase I can't get the auto indent to work but it isn't bad.

My personal favorite is Nedit, but Beaver manages to get the job done and it uses much less space on the DSL cd. This allows the distro to include built-in programs like Firefox and XMMS.

Well nedit is indeed better then beaver in my opinion. Once you got over the ugly look ;).

Nedit is a very powerful editor and fast as well.
