Hi!

Why not have DSL, at boot, check if there is a NFS server called eg dslnfs (could be a alias in a DNS) or something like that and automatically execute a script called eg dslfinish. This way you could have customisations done to you live dsl every time you boot it. At boot you could decide if you would like to check for the nfs server or not.

Just an idea...

You can do this using the /opt/bootlocal.sh. It runs as root and could do your mounts and custom scripts.
I don't know that this would have a wide enough appeal to incorporate into the base system.
Actually, I wrote a web version of this concept, it was storing the customization and backup via the web with triple des encryption.
I tried to get it accepted, but unfornately not.
