< Knoppix 3.7 for Windows >shows Knoppix 3.7 merged with QEMU, resulting in a Knoppix CD which 'boots' under Windows as well as being capable of stand-alone boot. It is possible to provide the same as an add-on kit for DSL ... about a couple of megabytes. Instructions at < QEMU kit instructions > I've got a 'zoo' of prebuilt ISOs at < Linux-for-Windows torrents > mostly Knoppixes, but also < SUSE 9.2 KDE Live for Windows > Would you like to do the same for DSL ? If I put the kit together, would you host it ? Posted by ke4nt1 on Feb. 16 2005,07:43
Already have it..Look in the download / current section for the DSL embedded. Works great from a USB key ! 5 way offers booting into DSL from pendrive.. 1. QEMU - DSL In linux 2. QEMU - DSL In WinblOws 3. Native - DSL from USBkey 4. Native - DSL from CD Boot 5. Native - DSL from floppy And there is a virtual 64MB HD for sharing and saving files from whichever way you choose to run it !! (the .iso inside the embedded is easily upgradable to the latest version) enjoy. 73 ke4nt Posted by quiberon on Feb. 16 2005,14:28
Great stuff !(You don't by any chance have a virtual OpenGL graphics adapter to replace the Cirrus Logic one ? I'd like to do LookingGlass-for-Windows ...) Posted by ke4nt1 on Feb. 16 2005,17:32
DSL uses the XVesa/Tiny/Kdrive xserver, not XFree86 or X.orgThere is no GL or accelerated support with this xserver. 73 ke4nt Posted by linux_gal on Feb. 17 2005,21:24
There is another box called BOCHS... I tried DSL on it, and it worked, too.Slow is the wrong word however. It crawled. I just wanted to see if it would work at all. Posted by Guest - on Mar. 25 2005,03:51
is there a way to increase the size of this virtual HD ? i'm using a 1 gig jumpdrive.. i'l like to be able to take advantage of the entire thing.. would it be possible to mount a second virtual drive, say 750 MB as another HD ? (thinking outloud) TIA if there's an easier way.. Posted by cbagger01 on Mar. 25 2005,07:04
YesYes You can either download the qemu program from the qemu website and use the hard drive image creation menu or you can do it manually by following the instructions on their site. Posted by SPELLING NAZI on Mar. 25 2005,12:12
TAP TAP TAP!ATTENTION! ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!!! Honourable (there's a U wit) Mister Linus Torvalds created the LinuX kernel. The operating system we are using is named after the kernel, hence LINUX. Repeat after me: LINUS created LINUX. LINUS created LINUX. LINUS created LINUX. LINUS created LINUX. LINUS created LINUX. Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on Mar. 25 2005,12:58
