Rather than the ICQ/M$N/AoL clients. Why not use < Jabber >. It's a Free, Open, Instant Messanger Protocol. So much more linux/free spirited.
It's alot more advanced, smarter, safer, smaller to use than ICQ/M$N etc.
It use's ICQ/M$N/AoL/Yahoo/eMail/Weather/IRC and it's own IM+Chat Room all at once, in a single (SSL'ed) connection.

There's a nice colletion of Small Linux Clients that use it, and it would allow 1 better program vs 3 one's you have for it now.

The IM client for Linux that works well with DSL is Gaim.

It can be installed from a Hard Disk installation.

Don't think it is on the live cd tho.

Cappy.
