There needs to be a winamp plugin for 5.1 surround for xmms....two speakers aint cuttin it.... Thanks Billsrock61 Posted by cbagger01 on April 17 2005,04:05
1. Get (or already have) a supported soundcard2. Get alsadebs.dsl extension and install it following instructions carefully. 3. Change XMMS audio driver to alsa. 4. Enjoy. Or you can always use the mplayer.dsl extension instead of XMMS if you prefer. Posted by Billsrock61 on April 17 2005,21:54

Edit your lilo.conf file and add "alsa" to the append line. Then save the file and run sudo lilo -v and it will activate your changes. Posted by Billsrock61 on April 19 2005,15:38

Well i restarted and the alsa showed up in the xmms output plugin and i selected it but theres only sound coming out of two speakers and i have a 5.1 Creative Soundblaser LIve Card so i should be getting sound out of atleast 4 speakers....so any ideas why its not workin??Billsrock61 Posted by cbagger01 on April 19 2005,16:35
Hmm..Two possibilities 1) Check the alsa project for the supported features of your soundcard. Maybe they haven't got 5.1 working yet. 2) Try another media player. The mplayer.dsl extension should work because it is also used to play movies that have surround sound in their soundtracks. Posted by Billsrock61 on April 19 2005,16:49
