I would like to be able to take about 30 pc's and boot em up with dsl - toram and have them support an openmosix cluster. Currently I can do it with Knoppix STD, but unfortunately there's no -toram option and I would rather not burn 30 cd's..

Is it possible to add it to mydsl, or because it modifies the kernel is it a lost cause??

As far as I can tell, DSL uses the 2.4.22-xfs kernel that comes with knoppix version 3.3

So if your program can play nice with this kernel version, you should be able to get it to work.

Otherwise, you are in for a kernel upgrade marathon session.

Good Luck.

Knoppix STD does have a TORAM option (http://www.knoppix-std.org/faq.html), but it takes a minimum of 640MB of RAM.

Also, Knoppix 3.2 and later has a built-in terminal server option so that other PCs can be booted via the network from one running Knoppix from CD. Looks like Knoppix STD doesn't support this, though.

Have you thought about network booting them? I have read about home cinema people doing this because they didnt want any noisy disks running. Do these comps support network booting?

/EDIT

From what i remember though, it can be a bastard to set up.
