Well.. what would make this perfect solving all problems with not many games is a NES emulator.. they are small run on lower end machines and can play thousands of games =)

man, playing nes games on dsl would rule!

your post reminded me of a distro i wanted to try, knoppix mame (http://freshmeat.net/projects/knoppixmame/). Havn't gotten around to downloading it yet.

That'd be cool. I downloaded an NES emu for Linux and saved it to my harddrive for when I can finally boot to the harddrive DSL. The only problem would then be installing (i have some roms, just gotta move them from my NTFS harddrive to my webspace).

i could write a tiny bash script for the installation, for those that dont quite know how to install from a tarball.

great idea.

hell, here it is, quickstyle
#!/bin/bash

#lets assume that the tarball is in the /home dir, and we're using tuxnes
cd /home && tar zxvf tuxnes* && cd tux* && ./configure && make && make install && make clean

that should work. alls neede is the source tarball in the distro.

Try you all to test a brazilian (like me

) distro that is a variation of knoppix to, but is in portuguese. Kurumin.

This distro have a lot of games and emulators to use or install.

Remember, the name of the distro is Kurumin.

ImNotHere, thank you for the NES emulation suggestion. I think it is a good match for DSL.

Interesting note:
Both NEStra Tuxnes have a huge difference between inflated and and compressed states -- much more than I've seen in other binaries.

Sigh, although I love DSL so much, I really hope that some distro-maker would do a Live-CD for emulators, w/ nVidia & ATI 3D drivers working from boot already.
It would come w/ MAME, Mupen, ePSX, VisualBoyAdvance, ZSNES, Gen, MSX, Amiga, Neo-Geo, etc and Wine!
Even w/ screenshots of all the ROMz to select from the emus' front-ends!!!
'Course da ROMz got to be on a HD partition or another CD.
The emus would make use of a persistent /home partition from a HD, USB Pen or even a diskette :cool:

Is it possible to happen in a near future?! O_o
