update-modules problem

I want to add some alias to make sonypi module to make sony's special key work
in /etc/modules.conf
then I issue command
update-modules
This is what I get
update-modules
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.22-xfs/kernel/drivers/usb/auerswald.o
How do i get rid of it?
One more thing it did not update new lines as I expect
