I dont believe this will improve dsl in performance but.. I'm sure some of you people will like my idea. well.. Installing dsl with grub and adding splashimage is very nice. This way you are greeted with boot options with a nice background.

But after selecting dsl... you'll leave your nice background picture and and boot messages comes up (verbose)... this is kinda scary for non-linux users (I wanted to give them a friendly tux-smile). Anyways, i have tried a nice linux distro, geexbox, it uses grub with a nice splashimage and also uses bootsplash.

Bootsplash allows you to hide your boot messages, etc (silent mode) and shows a nice (256 color?) graphic plus a cool progress bar (just like any complete linux distro). I'm not sure if bootsplash will work with our existing kernel (2.4.26) since i havent read much of its docs(kernel issues? patching stuff). Hope someone can help get bootsplash working on dsl or at least try bootsplash with dsl.

And oh btw! i still havent done frugal install...Im sooooo outdated...... hd-install!!!! hehehe  :D

So far I havent tried experimenting w/ bootsplash... yet...
but if anyone has tried using bootsplash w/ dsl, please share some of your thoughts. thanks
