why not build a damn huge linux with DSL and all the extension (as many as it can fit) into one huge iso?so newbie can easily choose which extension to load directly from the cd, without needed to download it. so, it'll also great for demo where there is no/slow internet connection. but, if possible, the .dsl extension is loaded only when we choose to. not directly loaded on boot. so, it'll save ram for older system. rgds, rex. < http://www.ngobrol.com > Posted by mikshaw on Aug. 06 2005,13:23
in effect.< http://www.linuxconstructionkit.org > There is also the "make myDSL CD" script included in DSL, but it requires downloading the extensions of course. Posted by jls legalize on Aug. 06 2005,21:37
but they want the money, anyway I have all the extensions, so no problem, if u don't have them u can use this site to download a self-made iso (maybe not so up to date):< my dsl maker > Posted by mikshaw on Aug. 07 2005,00:26
? There is no charge per se. It's a "thank you" for donating to the DSL project, like getting a backpack from PBS. Posted by rex on Aug. 08 2005,07:08
http://www.linuxconstructionkit.orgdont have any links for download?? they do want money. my dsl maker : cant use download manager! considering my internet connection, i can never able to download anything above 100meg without download manager i'd prefer an ready to burn iso image or anything that i can use a download manager, so i can pause/resume my download for 2-3 days... linuxconstructionkit.org sends you a free CD or DVD depending on how much you donate to the DSL project. All of the money, except maybe a small amount for materials and postage, that you send to LCK goes directly into the main DSL fund and goes toward development. -J.P. Which is a small price to pay for such an incredible distro! Brian AwPhuch Posted by rex on Aug. 22 2005,02:45
i guess the cost sending it to my country, might be higher than the cd itself... plus, usualy, there's additional charge by post office here for 'importing' anything... even if it's free demo cd, they still charge me. (yes it happened. i'd quite some experiences about these...) |
