First of all thanks everyone working on DSL, it's great.

The combination of a small distro and old hardware made
me think of setting up a kiosk. DSL could be really great
for this and I don't see any other distro pitching this.

It would be nice if DSL could boot straight into kiosk-mode
from hd and if I wanted to admin it I could get back to
regular DSL.

So, what do you say?

Well kioskcd looks nice and all but i would like to
be able to install the kiosk to drive and also to
be able to have the regular DSL environment
as administrator.

I've worked on and off on similar ideas. My hope was to be able to build it all into a kiosk.dsl extension that could be loaded on systems as needed.

If you'd like to catch me on instant messenger or via email, my contact info is in my profile. Maybe we can put our heads together and work out something.

I've got the basics sorted out, mostly its a matter of fine tuning at this point.

It would be nice if a kiosk package could set the system up as a kiosk, but then it could be modified by the administrator to do other things while a kiosk.  For example, if it could also be a simple LPD print server.

Only problem with the kiosk+something else too idea is security. Generally, the idea is to lock down a kiosk to do as little as possible, to prevent anyone from compromising the system.

Regardless, an add on makes sense so we can stay in sync with dsl in the future.
