I seem to have hit a major barrier in using DSL, as I understand it, DSL uses XVesa  "a small memory footprint implementation of X-Windows". It is not extensible and cannot be given drivers to use the 266 or 400 accelerated functions of the VIA chipset, even worse this means it can't be extended for our elo touch screen requirement, Elo has drivers a distro independant code that only needs Xf86free!
has anyone resolved this one or integrated the full X-Windows?

Thanks Bruce

Get the Xfree86.dsl.

It rocks.

Apologies for my ignorance but are you saying the is a version of DSL with XVesa and another with X-Windows? If so I would be grateful if you could elaborate on the latter and point me to the download

go to townload repository
check the mydsl packages (or use themydsl tool on desktop while connected with internet). download xfree86.dsl
be sure to read the README file.

open the emelfm file manager
go to the download location where you put xfree86.dsl and highlight it
click on the mydsl button

I seem to remember that this is what I did (that was a month ago, I may have forgot something)

good luck
