I am after a terminal emulator that can handle different terminal types such as wyse50 wyse60 etc. I tried to look for putty using synaptic and apt-cache but it does not exist, are there any others to recommend?

There's a putty package from debian(< link >).
I've downloaded it and putty-tools package, unpacked the binairies(plink, pscp ,psftp, putty, puttygen) from it and I was able to use putty.

Putty is good for Telnet sessions ,what I forget to mention (sorry ) is that I could do with an emulator that also dials modem links

There is a project on freshmeat.net called wy60 which does wyse terminal emulation.   It hasn't been updated in a long time, but it works pretty well.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for a slow response to this thread but I didnt want to create a new one again. The problem with wy60 is that the libs for it a newer than those used by DSL. I have even tried the latest DSL for this but wy60 grumbles when I try and installed it.

Is there anyway of getting around this?
