I have an EPIA SP 8000E system currently running DSL.  I'm trying to get the video drivers installed so that xine won't drop so many frames (and take advantage of the onboard MPEG2 acceleration).

I found the drivers, but they require "make" to build ... how do I install the utilities required to build... or is there somewhere I can download the video drivers directly?

Did I phrase the questions wrong?

I know the latest xorg drivers contain the S3 Unichrome drivers (Mandriva 10.2 has it).  I was really hoping to be able to use DSL.  Since the EPIA SP boards are sold by the DSL store, I would have thought they would have been supported.

The VIA Unichrome's MPEG2 acceleration uses the XvMC extension, and DSL's basic Xvesa will not handle such a specialised feature.

Thank you. I'll stop beating my head against the wall to get more than 12 fps on DSL.
