Hi all,
I am curious to know whether DSL installs on AMD 64 bit, ASUS mother board. Is there any special configuration that i need to do. I am asking this question because most general distros like redhat, fedora, ubuntu failed to install on my system.

In principle I think linux should work with amd64, but there may be some new chip sets that's not (fully) supported. I suggest that you google for the following:
linux asus 'motherboard.name'

I'm using an Alienware dual opteron system right now from a pendrive. It is so Kewl! Both processors are recognized and I get two penguins on bootup! This is using DSL-2.1b with the 2.4.31 kernel.
