DSL is the first linux distribution that doesn't detect the scroll wheel on my mouse.  The buttons work and the mouse works, but the scroll wheel does not work.  I cannot use DSL because I keep trying to scroll and it is driving my Krazy!!!

Does anybody know how to solve this problem.
My scroll wheel works with Ubuntu, Kubuntu, SimplyMepis, Kanotix, Elive, etc.

On my wife's computer the exact same mouse DOES work with DSL which is kind of strange since the computers are very close as far as hardware goes.

Thanks in advance.

I have tried xsetup.sh before, and I have tried ps/2 and usb (cuz I have the connector) and it didn't work.

I was wondering if I need to edit the xf86config file.

I looked for it but couldn't find it.

What file do I need to edit for the mouse???

Thanks.

Please check in Control Panel / System Stats / hardware and:-
Code Sample
MOUSE_FULLNAME="Generic PS/2 Wheel Mouse"      <== mine
MOUSE_DEVICE="/dev/psaux"                                    <== mine

It is from option  -mouse /dev/psaux,5 in /home/dsl/.xserverrc

I did: ' sudo nano /home/dsl/.xserverrc'

and changed my - mouse entry to '-mouse /dev/psaux,5'

and then I had no mouse  :angry:

so I did a ctrl-alt-backspace then startx

and I still had no mouse!!!!  :angry:

So then I did a ctrl-alt-backspace and xsetup.sh

and then I had a mouse :)
and my scrollwheel also worked  :p

Thank you very much.

Here is my hardware entry:

MOUSE_FULLNAME="unkown"
MOUSE_DEVICE="/dev/input/mice"

And like I said in a previous poste, my wife has the exact same mouse and I tested DSL on here machine, and here scroll works out-of-the-box.

Weird  ???

Just an update:

I did a frugal install and my scrollwheel works out-of-the-box automatically.

;-)

Weird cuz the scrollwheel has to be configured for livecd or hdd install.

Now to figure out how to get grub back !?!?!

Thanks.

Is it a usb mouse?
Does your system have two, one usb and another builtin?
