Hi, im new to this forum so if this is in the wrong place i apologise,
Ive seen alot of people talking about DSL running off of SD cards in various pieces of harware, including an N-Gage!!. I was wondering if anyone has tried to boot DSL of a memory stick.I have a hunk o junk UX50 running crappy palm OS i was just curious to know if anyone has tried DSL from a Memory Stick.
Cheers

Damn Small is small enough and smart enough to do the following things:

Boot from a business card CD as a live linux distribution (LiveCD)
Boot from a USB pen drive
Boot from within a host operating system (that's right, it can run *inside* Windows)
Run very nicely from an IDE Compact Flash drive via a method we call "frugal install"
Transform into a Debian OS with a traditional hard drive install
Run light enough to power a 486DX with 16MB of Ram
Run fully in RAM with as little as 128MB (you will be amazed at how fast your computer can be!)
Modularly grow -- DSL is highly extendable without the need to customize

Yes. It's possible. :;):

Are you talking about booting the CLIE from the memory stick? Can PDAs such as this one boot other OSs from removable media? I'm certainly not an expert on such things, but I've not heard of PDAs doing this before. Also, I'm guessing the stock Linux kernel in DSL wouldn't boot a system with a Sony CXD2230GA processor without recompiling?

you could very well be right, but i shall give it a go there are certainly a lot of sites that claim theyve got linus to boot onto the NZ series of Clie. as i say i shall have a go anyway.
