Proving once again that DSL rocks your world, it's me, SaidinUnleashed, with another brain-warping story of Penguin Supremecy.

I am currently posting, connected to my dialup ISP with the second modem I ever owned.

A 8bit ISA, 2400 b/s Rockwell. Manual com port assignment and everything.

I have it set as COM3, so I pointed pppconfig to /dev/ttyS2, set the port speed to 2400 and away I go! Internet in DSL on hardware that was pretty old in 1992.

It ain't quick, but I can IRC with nIRC, been browsing, slowly, with Dillo, and herre I am, posting to you. If I had been smart, I might have used Links instead, but no one has accused me of that lately, so meh.

"So what?" you ask. Understand that drivers for this modem under windows only go up to Winsuck 95. That's it. And the ISA bus is not even supported in 2k/XP!

The coolness factor of this is beyond words!

Very cool. You gotta love it when you can take something that is considered "trash" to some and dsl saves the day.
