Hi guys!

Do I have a chance to install DSL on this hardware?

Actually a 386 with Coprocessor having giant 7.8MB of usable memory. As far as I have seen, I cannot install it on this box, but this is not the problem. The main question is: Will it run, or do I need a 486 as minimum?

Any other suggestion what I shall install?

I could install Suse 5.1 (from '97) or some old slackware (from '95) on this box, but I prefer a newer distribution.

Thanks!

I think you need something lighter than even DSL. There are instructions on the wiki for a poorman's install that might at least get your computer to boot up in Linux. I don't know what apps you could run though.

You mean, I need FSL (fscking small Linux)?  :D

DSl may (just) work if you don't want X. If you want X you could take a look at < http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/baslinux/ >
