Hi sorry for creating another topic.. But I'm few steps away from  converting a group of tech people into using DSL on their work laptops !!!   :)

this is what we usually do on winXP laptop ..

* everynight at home.. we dial-in into the server at work to do nightly maintenance.. once the modem connected.. we get an "After dial" box where it ask for "Enter username". Then after we type in a name and <enter>, the next prompt shows "xxxSR1>" then we enter "C PPP" then it will show "starting SLIP or PPP data line session.."

Then once authenticated.. we can remote desktop into the work server because we have assigned static IP on our laptop modem to "talk" to the server at work.

now for DSL linux..

From the DSL Control Panel / Dialup tab, I was able to create an account, and was able to connect but I am missing ONE step --> how do I make it so a terminal box would popup asking for User name and allow us to type-in "C PPP"  ?  and how do u assign a static IP address on the modem so it will be recognized by the server that I'm dialing-in into ?

Thanks for all the help / tips.

Once we get this to work.. I will be creating bunch of DSL-live CD for all the technicians !!  :)   I showed DSL to my boss this morning and he was totally amazed !!

You can assign a static IP inside the PPP config script.

After setting up your account, when you reach the "properties" screen, choose "Advanced" from the menu.

Then choose "ipdefault" from the next menu.
