The following is found on the How to create a .dsl application pdf.

"After this has completed you should have an xearth.dsl file in your /home/dsl directory. Place this file in a safe place, reboot to a base dsl system and install the file to see if it works."

How do I install the .dsl application?

It is explained on the MyDSL Repository web page < here >

Download Instructions:
   Download or Browse by using the MyDSL desktop icon, or the command line mydsl-load.
   You can also download via browser by right click and select Save As,
   For best results use wget especially for large files. Check your md5sums.
Use Instructions:
   If downloaded with the desktop icon, simply click desktop icon or select menu item.
   To load interactively use emelfm myDSL button, or the command line mydsl-load.
   For automatic bootup loading, copy to the / of your boot media
   For on demand boot loading, copy to the myDSL partition and use mydsl=hdXY boot option.

I have bolded the line pertaining to locally stored extensions as described in your question.

I was referring to installing a .dsl file I had created, not one downloaded from the MyDSL extension panel. Don't know who the other alb1954 is?

The bolded line above is the method for locally stored extensions whether you wrote them or downloaded them via a browser.

From the command prompt:
$ mydsl-load your_ext_name_here

or use the file manager emelfm and browse to the extension, click to select then click the mydsl button
