Why? What's wrong with you? That small penguin is so cute!

AFAIK, the only way to do that is via a kernel recompile, editing the linuxrc file, editing the isolinux.cfg, or issuing a special boot prompt. In the script linuxrc, housed in the minirt.gz file, you can clear the screen and hose tux. You can change isolinux.cfg so the default boot sends out a 'vga=normal,' or you can just type dsl vga=normal at the prompt. I'll leave the kernel compile otions for fresher brains Posted by starcannon on Jan. 24 2006,21:12
if your having an issue with text scrolling off the bottom of your screen, then the easiest fix is to use the correct vga=7xx cheat code, you can find yours by booting from CD and pressing F3 at the DSL Screen and Boot Prompt

If you just dislike the logo you can always replace it with another one, totally black for example.

How do you replace the logo with a blank one without recompiling the kernel?

If i remember it right its in the boot/isolinux folder the logo16 file.Google for Isolinux and Knoppix and logo. There is a detailed description on the web how to adapt the format of this file. Posted by llccjj on Mar. 08 2006,06:32
If you Video card support VESA, the cute penguin logo will appear when booting without hack the kernel. How ever, if you boot from a video card that does NOT support VESA, the penguin logo will disappear automatically. Posted by frankseu on Mar. 10 2006,14:17
Hi,do not let us mux up 2 different pcs. the logo16 is the logo which comes at boot with the bootoptions (contains the DSL Logo/pinguin). This can be changed as tould without a recompile. Search for remaster in this forum. The linux-pinguin comes during boot is somewhere in deepth and a also would like to know how to change. regards Frank Posted by AwPhuch on Mar. 10 2006,22:16
This is a KNOPPIX thing...perhaps they would know more about how to change it than the DSL developers wouldBrian AwPhuch |
