I have a Pentium 200MHz that I have been trying to get DSL to run on for about a week now and I was having a problem getting it to boot from the CD. The computer does not support booting from a CD in the BIOS so I make a boot floppy that will automaticly load the cd-rom and boot to the CD. (The program can be downloaded < here > from my website however I don't know who the original author of the boot disk is.) I know the floppy works because I can put my OEM Windows 2000 disk in and it boots to it however when I put the DSL 2.2 CD-RW disk in it says it can not boot to the CD. I even tried putting the image on a different brand of CD-RW burning at 4x (the slowest my writer would go) however it still had the same problem and I know the disk was burned correctly because it would work on other newer computers. I used this floppy to boot a Puppy version of linux on the same CD-RW and it worked fine. I was also having the same problem with a < GParted > livecd distro that worked on other computers so I decided to try putting it on a CD-R to see if that would work and it did.

Long story short, if you can't get it to boot from your CD-RW and your checksum of the downloaded file is correct just try to burn the iso onto a CD-R and give it a shot.

Does anyone know why DSL's and GParted's cd's won't boot from a CD-RW but Puppy's would? Is it a different (better/worse) bootloader?

Just thought I would share my soloution with everyone.
