Still VERY new to Linux, but have been having fun getting DSL running on an old Pentium laptop.  Managed to get DSL loaded on the HD, but I seem to lose all the settings whenever I shut down.  I suspect that everything is going into the ramdisk and therefore being lost, but I can't find the path to changing this.

Thanks!!  Love the concept behind DSL and becoming a fan of Linux.  But need to learn MUCH more...

I assume you are booting frugal, liveCD, or other compressed filesystem, and going directly into the graphical system.  If this is the case, you should be presented with a browser window with the title "Getting Started".  You should read this page, as it contains useful information about most of the unique features of DSL, such as the backup/restore system and myDSL.
