Sounds like he's having the same problem as me, If i boot a DSL usbhdd install and make changes/create files etc they all dissapear upon reboot and everything defaults. Very frustrating :/

You didn't read the "Getting Started" page.Put

Yeah thats fair enough, but having to do it every single time you are going to shut down is a pain, shouldnt it just be automated or there at least be an option to have it automatically backup everything on shutdown? I wonder what command 'backup' executes...

backup restore is automated. It only needs to be done once.

That's the line after the word "boot:" that appears when you boot up the live cd.
