hi,ok here is the thing, i have a background pic that i like.. called tuxwin.jpg. so i know how to change the desktop theme and then save the configurations. but when i reboot and use restore=sda2 i get the configurations back which is good but not the background that i wanted. the pic is in sda2 too. please help , thanks Posted by kerry on May 29 2006,01:50
Did you add the background to the theme?example: somewhere in your theme style there should be a line that looks something like this. rootCommand: xsri --scale-width=100 --scale-height=100 ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/endlessblue.jpg change to rootCommand: xsri --scale-width=100 --scale-height=100 ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/tuxwin.jpg Then the theme will set the background> < http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3741/modified9pg.png > Posted by Bilal on May 29 2006,01:55

You can also use the wallpaper app to permanently install a specific image regardless of which style you use. Select the image and then click the "Install" button.

If you do mikshaw's way make sure you make a copy of .fluxbox/init first. I have had a few times were it deleted the init so it was just blank.

ill try the second one ... as the first didnt work .. i coppied the image into .fluxbox/backgrounds .. then used the tool and set it and i thought that is it.hmm.. what is the background name .. it is cool + i noticed ur running somthing else that shows icons on top of the down. where did u get that . cool Posted by kerry on May 29 2006,02:52
background name is same as yours "tuxwin.jpg" that's what i thought you was using. I'm not sure i understand your second question. I just changed the icons to ones i pulled from osl icons.

2 noob questions:I have a couple of .jpg that I would like to use as backgrounds. Do I need to do any to them - certain size of picture or whatever before I copy to fluxbox/backgrounds? Once I setup these backgrounds, I'd like to take a screen shot - I noticed in the menus there is "X snapshot." I get a picture of my desktop saved as "myscreen.xwd" or something. When I view this with xpaint its all "green." Any tips? Kerry, I've seen your screenshots before - cool stuff. I tried wmdrawer, but could not get make the icons show - just the question marks. Hey MDG, no you don't need to change them, any .jpg or .png can be used(not sure about other formats). I've even used icon's just for fun. That X snapshot sucks, i use gimp to take snap shots, it works just like ksnapsot you can set a timer and "save as" any format you want(.jpg, .png, etc..). It's under file>aquire>screenshot in gimp. For wmdrawer you have to change the wmdrawerrc down at the bottom so they point to .png and .gif on mine i noticed the difference was in the spelling, like starting with capital when it should be lower case.
