OK, (this was done on 3.3RC3 but should work on lower, except 3.2 as it has mashed up module problems) (this should also work for most other zaurus pda models)

firstly youll need a full HDD install, which later you could remaster to a live iso if needed. this is because we need to edit a file in the /etc folder which is "normally" run readonly of the image/cd.

Have Z disconnected

login as root (# sudo su)

1.
"Blacklist CDCEther Module"

enter the following command to "add" "CDCEther" to the "blacklist file"

# echo "CDCEther" >> /etc/hotplug/blacklist

(note, the capitol "CDCE", very necessary and the tute i was following gave lowercase, causing much hassle for long time)

Without this step the CDCEther module takes over and give you a eth1 interface rather than usb0... you can keep an eye on whats happening once you plugin your z by checking in the dsl pannel->system->messages (dmesg) ?

2.
plugin turned on Zaurus.

3.
So now if you run:

# ifconfig -a

you'll see a new interface (assuming its working) it should be usb0

specify IP:

# ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.200 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

no if you run if ifconfig you should see new interface, and beable to "ping" it.

From here you can VNC control the z, assuming you have a vnc server running on it.

Further possiblities ive done with debian, but not DSL (yet) are , internet connection sharing, auto assigning of IP and interface setup using hotplug, and/or DHCP.
