Removing unwanted applications

Hello!

DSL works great on my old Toshiba Libretto, but Firefox just runs way to slow. I want to remove the apps that dont run quite so well on my old machine, but cant see a way to do this.

Can anybody help?

I am sure this is a daft noob question but really would appreciate some help!
