Is there a way to have the "dsl opt=sda1" and/or any other cheat codes followed by "return" entered automatically to enable the boot process to complete without stopping. I've searched around but did not come up with an answer. My system uses syslinux.cfg which has in it the following:DEFAULT linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix TIMEOUT 300 PROMPT 1 DISPLAY boot.msg F1 boot.msg F2 f2 F3 f3 LABEL dsl KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL memtest KERNEL memtest APPEND initrd= LABEL dsl-txt KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=normal initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL expert KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt24.gz nomce BOOT_IMAGE=expert LABEL fb1280x1024 KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=794 xmodule=fbdev initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL fb1024x768 KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 xmodule=fbdev initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL fb800x600 KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=788 xmodule=fbdev initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL lowram KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=normal initrd=minirt24.gz noscsi noideraid nosound nousb nofirewire noicons minimal nomce noapic noapm quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL install KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=normal initrd=minirt24.gz noscsi noideraid nosound nofirewire noicons base norestore _install_ nomce noapic noapm quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL failsafe KERNEL linux24 APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us vga=normal atapicd nosound noscsi nousb nopcmcia nofirewire noagp nomce nodhcp xmodule=vesa initrd=minirt24.gz BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix LABEL userdef KERNEL linux24 APPEND ######################################## Big Pc Man Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on July 23 2007,21:33
Try placing it under the default entry's append line.

Thanks for the response. As a guess I put "opt=sda1" right after the "vga=xxx" and that seems to work fine. I also shortened the 300 to 30 to get the boot to occur faster. Big Pc Man Posted by 9a6or on Nov. 04 2007,23:25
Note the last three lines in the file:LABEL userdef KERNEL linux24 APPEND ######################################## Based on this I have added a new entry in syslinux.cfg which uses the LABEL dsl entry as a starting point with added cheatcodes after APPEND. So that I remember my new entry, I also inserted a line in the file f2. |
