Is there a simple trick to view the boot screen dialog results post boot after the desktop has loaded?

Without remastering (most of the stuff you see during the boot sequence is simply echos), I think the nearest thing would be the dmesg command, which can be redirected to a file if needed.

Try stats.lua (system stats in the menu). (edit: It has dmesg output from boot.)

Hit Control-Alt-F1, then Control-Alt-F2 to go back.

You can add "secure" to the boot prompt.  Then when it prompts for the passwords, you can read the screen at your leisure.
