I thought I would try abiword befor I close my dsl project..it looks nice but when I type a few lines of miss spelled words and click spell check..it posts a dialog..spell check complete..with an ok button. does this program require additional files not mentioned in the info file?

why does abiword not spell check.

Firstly, Abiword is a mydsl extension, which is a user-contributed package and not supported directly by DSL developers.  This thread would be better served if it was put in one of the mydsl forums.

As far as i can tell, the spellcheck was not included in the mydsl.  It is available as a separate package from the abiword website, so i assume it can be added to DSL either through a deb package, or by creating a mydsl package.

lovdsl..so devoted some spare time to continue..abiword is a nice .dsl addition.. wanted to add spell check.
apt-get install old stable aspell..does not connect to abiword
apt-get install old stable abiword..will not install
apt-get install stable abiword,,installs 70meg but has error at end on pingapanga? font issue or something...abiword has no text on buttons etc.
so..mydsl the abiword.dsl and abiword works and spell checks
however the error effects other installs..the system is corrupted. so reinstall
questions
1 what do I apt-get to add spell checking to abiword.dsl...or is this possible.
thanks for any on this.

I have not tried this, but I believe it, the spell checker, needs to be in a directory called enchant. I also belive that this can be a directory in "home"

Probably best to check with Abiword site for specifics.

Evidently a more complicated desire...yes..I looked at the abiword site but was unable to find proof of a secondary download for the spell checker..noticed with the deb download that there were many adds..abiword. abiword-common, several libs, aspell, ENCHANT1, aspell-en,.amoung others.
had thought maby I could apt-get abiword-common and aspell. thinking that the .dsl required a missing plugin for aspell..perhaps I should just give it up.

Ok..Had another look at abiword today and clued in to the solution for getting the spellchecker to function..I did every thing but the right thing...enchant IS the key it is some form of wrapper ..it is called libenchant1...I installed abiword.dsl..then apt-get stable aspell then apt-get stable libenchant1 abiword now spellchecks..simple.
thanks roberts for sticking the word in my brain for later
