Thought I would have a look at iscribe mail for linux...I have used it on windows and thought it was a good freeware..I noticed that the text is missing from the dialog box buttons..it seems to function well..wondered if I was missing a required font pack or something..thought I would mention..curious..has any one else noticed this?..there is text on the main menu buttons..it is the rounded dialog box buttons for OK,CANCEL.etc

Worked first time for me. No problems. Fonts are all there, even on the OK buttuns got my mail o.k.maybe try click on the status at the bottom and click on the log , then click receive to see what it says? Posted by lovdsl on Mar. 25 2006,18:11
Thanks...log say's socket error(34)..wonder why my buttons do not show text?..I am running on a p166..I noticed that eboard installed with no issue..on the dx2 I had install issues with eboard and xsaver..maby iscribe is similar on a p166 and requires a 233 for clean install.

The socket error is a network problem. Is your windoze's scribe version the same (1.87) ? maybe try 1.87 on windoze and see what happens. The fonts problem is unrelated to the network or how fast your pc goes. What version DSL are you using? have you tried an older DSL? I'm using 2.1. Posted by lovdsl on Mar. 26 2006,04:17
Ok..not sure what you mean by try the windoze version...only mentioned as I liked it and was excited about the possibility of something familiar on linux..This is 2.2 to my knowledge the current from a few weeks ago..so maby it works well with 2.1 but not 2.2...that's cool just did not know...thanks though..nice to know it works well on 2.1..there is no way I could know except to ask..it does not mention in the info file...I understand the complication of keeping everything up to date..I was being sarcastic when I said so much for mail..just a little disappointed...sorry to all who took offence. sylpheed sends and receives fine I am still unfamiliar with it. Think my welcome is wearing thin here so maby will just enjoy what I have..thanks for all the help getting up and running.it really is appreciated.

no need to be polite! sometimes you have to rant to get what you want.I was just wondering if the windows 1.87 version can connect to your pop server or not, perhaps only later versions can. The only other longshot suggestion i have for the fonts is changing your vesa setting between 16 or 24 bits and making sure you're using the default desktop theme. It is not important that I get iscribe to run on dsl2.2 just wanted to try it..if it works well on 2.1 then I am curious to know if opera7 also worked on 2.1..and if xcalc was the calc on 2.1..thanks
