Ok..had no luck with available printers and aspfilters..but still want to know what printers work with it..seems no one knows..i digress

Installed cups and clicked start and clicked admin..opens firefox and I see I need to add root and root password to enter

configure a printer, easy like aspfilters..my printer is listed
test page is questionable..boarder on three sides
close and restart cups just in case
open bever and doc and click print .error
remember to go to control and click print button
bever now says printing doc..nothing
go to preferences and change lpr to lp and it prints faded doc on the edge of page..
go to ted and type something click print..it prints and margins look good
so go to abiword and type doc and hit print
opens dialog change lpr to lp and print...prints...margins are set but prints uncentered

So need to waste 100 bucks in ink to set margins and configure the processors to print the docs correctly .nice that ted just printed correctly the first run

QUESTION is  how can I change abiwords print dialog to lp from lpr instead of changeing each time I print

do I have to start cups and go to control and click printing every boot or can I automate this at boot

well at least I'm printing something..thats very cool.

lovdsl - add cupsd to your bootlocal.sh file.  I believe I run it in the background.

I am not at my dsl computer so I can't double check the correct command
for you now but will do it later.

Sorry I don't have don't know the answer to your other question.  By the way I have
been happy running CUPS with DSL and my printer but I would like to get the
correct ppd file for my printer to work with it someday.

lovdsl this is how I have it set in /opt/bootlocal.sh

# start CUPS
/etc/init.d/cupsys start

Thanks..any chance you would be kind enough to explain the access to boot local.sh..this is an executable and I have not yet figured out how to view its content and modify it...if it is complicated no worries..it has been mentioned before so thought maby I should get a better understanding if anyone is willing to offer some tips to get started...sorry..a newbies life.
