Posted by spaceghoti on Oct. 26 2006,13:15I successfully downloaded the updated Firefox version 184.108.40.206 UCI from the ibiblio repository and mounted it with the MyDSL program off my desktop. It shows up under the MyDSL menu, but when I click it nothing launches. I don't know if it passes the MD5 hash check because I don't know how to do that under DSL. Would someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
Posted by mikshaw on Oct. 26 2006,13:57Did you read the info file? Always read the info file first.
Did you install and enable gtk2.0?
About the md5:
If you installed using the myDSL program on the desktop, and got a menu item and/or icon for the prgram, the md5 succeeded.
If you need to test manually, cd into the directory containing both the extension and the md5 text file and run "md5sum -c whatever.md5.txt"

I read the file info, but searching for GTK2.0 didn't produce much. I tried installing it through apt-get, but there were too many broken dependencies and I gave up. So I'm really not sure what I need to do to get this working, and I'm not finding much help in the forums or wiki. The uci concept has me greatly confused; I understand it's meant to be a separately mountable application system that won't touch the core, but I don't understand how I'm supposed to make it work.
Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Oct. 26 2006,19:18There's gtk2 in mydsl.
Don't worry about the insides of UCI - once mydsl-loaded, you can use it just like any other extension.
Posted by spaceghoti on Oct. 26 2006,21:16I finally made it work, after reloading the Firefox and GTK2 UCIs. Thank you!
Posted by darkwoofe on Nov. 06 2006,04:18I have this installed and running with no problems, but I have to reload it everytime I start up dsl. Everything else under MyDSL stays on after I shut down and restart.
Also, the Firefox icon on the desktop still loads firefox 1.0.6. Is there anyway that I can fix this?
Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Nov. 06 2006,04:40I think DSL was recently updated to autoload .uci's as well... otherwise you can add the commands to /opt/bootlocal.sh for now.
Change firefox's .lnk file in ~/.xtdesk to point to the new firefox loader. And add it to your filetool.lst for backup/restore if needed.
Posted by mikshaw on Nov. 06 2006,05:15uci files have been autoloading at least since dsl 3.0...i can't remember if they did before that.
