I'm running DSL 3.4.2 on a machine with 400 MHz, 192MB ram, 400MB swap.

I've tried all the available Abiword packages: the .dsl, the .unc and even the gtk2-based .unc

They all download ok, and appear in my MyDSL menu. But when I click on the menu item, nothing happens. Odd, since most other things in DSL have "just worked".

You could try starting abiword from a terminal window, it might throw up some error messages.

ok, I'll try that. Do I need to specify the full path? I haven't run a DSL from the command line before.

If you right-click on the icon and select "properties", you should see the full path to the application.

I don't use icons, but I checked ~/.jwmrc

The shortcut was /opt/abiword/abiword - when I tried this in aterm, it said there was no such file. I checked the contents of /opt/abiword and found the shortcut should be /opt/abiword/bin/abiword - now it starts up fine.

Of course, now I just need to make the spell checker work, and from what I've seen elsewhere on the forum that'll be a royal PITA.
