I backed up my email files (messages and configuration settings under .slypheed).  I can read all of my old messages in the folders just fine.

But when I try to download new messages, Sylpheed begins to download messages, but before it finishes downloading even the first message, I get the error message "can't write file".

What's wrong?  What do I have to change to get Sylpheed to download my messages like it's supposed to?

Are the permissions on /home/dsl/.sylpheed (.slypheed?) still dsl.staff? Is hda3 full?

I opened up all the permissions (for both the Mail directory and the .sylpheed directory), but Sylpheed STILL refuses to download my messages.  hda3 is not full - I only have a small fraction of it filled.

Typically Sylpheed writes mail messages in the Mail/ directory structure. The perms should be dsl.staff

Thanks.  I got it working.  The user has to be set to dsl, and the group has to be set to staff.  I also found that I had to select the "Recurse directories" option when setting the user and group.
