This is miscategorized and belongs in one of the extension threads. FWIW, these errors don't affect every screensaver in the package. Solution: disable the ones that aren't in the package. Ta da.

In the settings panel, set the "Text to use" to something else than the fortune program, so noseguy won't try to use fortune cookies

I'm in the xscreensaver program and I don't see a text settings option.
Here is what I see.

noseguy - root

enabled
visual any
I'm using dsl 4.3

Your version of DSL is irrelevant because xscreensaver isn't in the base.
