Hello all,

not sure if I have the right forum, but,

Does the above kernel have madwifi builtin?, I had been using 2.3 but it would not natively support my onboard Atheros chipset. Looked on the kernel pages but did not see the answer to my question. Currently using Kubuntu which more or less supports my chipset with madwifi......

I like DSL so I may change back or triple boot if I can get my chipset to work with this version.

TIA
William

There are a couple of different issues working here at the same time. The DSL-2.3 uses the Linux 2.4.26 kernel, which has the old madwifi drivers built in. The DSL versions 2.0-2.1 did not have the drivers built in, but Robert made a madwifi.dsl package using the new madwifi drivers for them and they work very well. Then someone (sorry, I don't remember who) packaged the new madwifi drivers for DSL-2.3 and higher. They are all available in the .DSL repository. Finally, The DSL team is working on an Alpha distribution of a small Linux - Not DSL - that uses the 2.6.11 kernel and is based on Knoppix 3.9 stripped down. There is no madwifi package ready for that yet, although it is possible that one of the others would work with it.
