Please note the following files have been updated and are likely in your backup.
You should compare and copy the new updated version from /etc/skel/

.fluxbox/menu
.jwmrc
.xinitrc

Is there a torrent available?

I can't seem to connect with the FTP site.

The alsa autoconfig seems to work fine with a legacy boot - thanks.

Which output plugin is meant to be used with xmms - OSS or ALSA? I only seem to get any sound with OSS

I think I did it wrong last time.  Please advise:

Should I just go ahead and replace the KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX file on my DSL boot partition with the new one, and go ahead and boot the frugal installation?

And then look at those files in /etc/skel/ ?

Thanks,
Sheldon

Yes. That is the way to do it.

TINY thing: Can the DSL home page be updated to say that the release candidate version is RC3? If folks discover DSL from Distrowatch or the like and see a lower release number on the actual DSL page, there might be some confusion. (Plus, I check the DSL home page frequently to look for new releases.)

Thx,

dslf

I had emailed John to do this task at the time of my publishing the release candidate. Guess he is too busy. So I went ahead and updated the webpage.

Thanks for bring this to my attention.

Problem with emelfm : line 2 : 1673 segmentation fault? What happened? Emelfm was working on every version I tried  before

No answer some days later
It seems that I am the only one to encounter this problem?

Problem with flash plugin for firefox, it seems installed but doesn't work.
Posted by jls legalize on Mar. 28 2007,17:36
Use flash 7.  If you search the forum, john posted a link where it can still be downloaded. Actually I didn't try this RC

legalize cannabis, etc.

Posted by ricciolo on Mar. 28 2007,21:12
Ah ok, flash 7 works, excuse me.

robert: have u fixed the iptables issue that was affecting the RC2?

legalize cannabis, etc.

For flash users:

flash7 will work out-of-box.

flash9 requires gtk2, and a gtk2-capable browser.  If you want sound, you must use ALSA as OSS support was taken out.  However, since flash9 seems to be unstable for most, flash7 would probably be the best choice.

Yes. See change log for v3.3RC3
* Restored non-boot scsi and netfilter modules.

I was hoping to be able to free up space by having less frequently used modules or speciality modules available as extensions.
But I have since backed off this position.

What about the declobber script? Have u Mr ~shingledeker added to the distro?

legalize canabis, etc.

How about using cloop optimizer on DSL, maybe for RC4?
With it you can rearrange the blocks to the order they are read, eliminating seek completely and using a continuous read. Regardless of the speed of the cd-drive, that will speed livecd booting up tens of seconds

It has been in since v3.3 RC1. See the change log.
