Hi,

Where can I get dpkg.tar.gz?

From

,-----
| the entire /var/lib/dpkg/ was delete from the iso to make room.
| It is available as a separate download (dpkg.tar.gz).
`-----

From < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-hd-install.html >

,-----
| If you have net access, type 'sudo dpkg-restore' in your term window.
`-----

I don't have this dpkg-restore in my DSL-N-0.1RC4,

plz help

thanks

You're not alone. DSL-N doesn't have dpkg. The RC stands for "release candidate." DSL and DSL-N are not the same thing.

Search the DSL-N forum for advice, check out the following link for DSL-N extensions, or use DSL if you want dpkg.

I could've sworn I downloaded this from the < DSL-N repository > but I cannot find it there.

This being said, I am using a dsl-dpkg.dsl sized 1,532KB with DSL-N and it works fine for unpacking/installing deb packages - apt-get is relatively easily to get working too.

Thanks for the replies.

Actually, what I was really interested in is the list of, either

 dpkg -l

or:

 dpkg --get-selections

for DSL-N.

But according to the post

If I use "dsl-dpkg.dsl" from DSL I'll get wrong packages list.

thanks all the same

Clarification: I meant it's not included in the ISO. It's also not in the system or testing sections of the DSL-N repository.

You will need dsl-dpkg.dsl to use the command "dpkg -L *.deb"

My guess is that the file in the system section of the DSL repository will work in DSL-N. The packages list directory for Debian relevant to DSL got lost for a while but it has appeared in the archives and the URL is correct in the latest version of dsl-dpkg.dsl posted in the repository.
